Female Scorpion Fly - Panorpa spp:
A strange looking insect, with a long beak-like face, dark patches on the wings and a scorpion-like tail, which the male uses in courtship display. Found in gardens, hedgerows and woodland edges. Scorpion Flies feed on the remains of insects that have been caught in spiders webs!
